Happy St. Patrick’s Day!

Well, I know the holiday isn’t until Thursday, but I figure that it was a fitting title for this post. As you know, I’ve been working very hard on a St. Patrick’s Day themed outfit for Little Ari. And while her Valentine’s outfit was all sweet and cute, I wanted to take her outfit for this holiday in a completely different direction.

Drawing on inspiration from last Halloween’s Julia cosplay, I made Little Ari a wee Irish punk outfit for the coming holiday. The outfit begins with a cotton, fitted corset top with shamrock print inset and kelly green straps and lacing. On her bottom half, she wears a pair of cotton pants, decked out in rivets and leather and following through with more of the shamrock print. And the whole outfit is completed by the addition of a pleated green overskirt; wrapped around her waist and held in place by a pair of little safety pins. Her hair is red, her clothes are green, and she’s ready for a wild night!

  1. Now Sapphire want’s some of those cool pants, but with blue accents instead of green. Do you take commissions?

You can make them yourself, silly. You have the pattern 😛

      • Girl, those pants look very little like the pants pattern in that kit, you totally made them your own thing. Your good at embellishing:-D How did you make the side inserts?

The pants I made for her are made from the exact same pants pattern that came with the set. However, they’ve just been elongated by about 3″ so that they are actually “pants”. Before sewing up the inseam, I cut them off shorter and hemmed both sides, then stitched them into a tube. The insets are created by first cutting a long triangle (remember that this will make the pants flare, so unless you’re going for a hippie look, don’t overdo it!). Then, right sides together, stitch the triangle from the bottom of the pants up tot the top of the triangle. Right sides together again, add the next part of the pants, this time stitching all the way from the bottom to the top. I would recommend adding the inset before hemming everything.

  2. Aww, I love the pants, skirt ensemble. She needs some jewelry though, like a bracelet or too.

WOW! awesome! I can’t say enough how amazing you are with this! Happy St. Patty’s Day!
